My grandmother sends her regards and apologizes book recommendation

I have been reading books since I could......well, read. So you can be assured that I have read quite a few books. And I have to say, this possibly the best book I have ever read. Elsa a very clever almost-8-year-old, who is very particular about grammar and knows just about everything. After all, she is a great believer in Wikipedia. She has a very orderly mother, a very crazy grandmother, and a rather tentative father who cannot have too much fun without lying down for a bit. Despite being through the eyes of a 7yr old, I actually found this book quite dark. I do not cry much or ever almost, but this book had me crying through quite a few chapters, not because it's sad but because it's so beautiful.
