Chopsticks- a skill
There comes a time in everyone's life when they simply must eat with chopsticks. Or at least flip food into people's faces with them. - Leela
When I was tiny I felt like I had accomplished much when I asked the waiter in an Asian restaurant to replace my fork spoon and knife with chopsticks. And honestly, despite barely being able to hold such big chopsticks with small hands, I believe I did fairly well.
Recently I felt I may be losing this important skill, so the whole of this week I ate with chopsticks. Rice, poha, sabudana, rice noodles, bokchoi, carrots, biryani basically absolutely everything except porridge. And now although I have thankfully regained this skill, I am tired so I will probably say goodbye to my chopsticks for a while.
Now the point of this blog is not to have you attacking your roti with chopsticks. No, it is not.
The point is that sometimes when you feel like practising a skill such as using chopsticks, playing chess or speaking mandarin, do, even if you are not consistent with it like me. Because when you try again a few months later, you will probably be a lot better at it.
Hahahahahahahaha😂😂🤣🤣Been there, done that...but my exploits with chopsticks stopped while I was tiny. Kudos to you for learning, remembering and then, practicing this difficult thing.

ReplyDeleteBlinding is a common side effect of using chopsticks. However as long as you are not blinding the people around you, i recommend you keep trying.
